How frequently should I charge my batteries?
Charge your batteries more frequently than not. The more you charge your cart the better. Jimmy's Carolina Carts highly recommends that you unplug and plug the cart back into the terminal for recharging once a week. This will ensure a healthier, long-lasting battery pack.
How long will my golf cart run when my batteries are fully charged?
The average golf cart typically travels from 15-20 miles on a full charge depending on the terrain, the load on the golf cart, and the condition of the batteries.
How long does it take to charge my battery pack?
It generally takes 2 to 8 hours to fully charge your golf cart battery pack. In some cases it could take longer depending on the time and usage of the cart between charges.
Can I fill my battery cells with tap water?
No. You should always use distilled water only. Do not fill the battery cells completely full. Fill to approximately 1/4 inch above the battery plates. Overfilling can ruin batteries.

How do I get a permit for my golf cart in South Carolina?
To obtain a South Carolina Golf Cart Permit, complete the Golf Cart Permit Registration Form (SCDMV Form GC-2), provide proof of insurance for the golf cart, provide your valid driver's license number and the golf cart's serial number, and pay the $5 permit fee. Your golf cart permit must be renewed every five years or whenever you change your address. To operate your golf cart legally on public roads, it must also be equipped with headlights, taillights, a horn, and mirrors. Seatbelts are required for passengers under 12 years of age.
Making Your Golf Cart Street Legal in South Carolina
In South Carolina, if you have a valid driver's license, you may drive a golf cart during the day within four miles of your home or business and on secondary highways. To do so, however, you must have a golf cart permit, which can be purchased at any South Carolina DMV branch. To obtain a permit, you must complete the Golf Cart Permit Registration Form (SCDMV Form GC-2), provide proof of insurance for the golf cart, provide your valid driver's license number and the golf cart's serial number, and pay the $5 permit fee.
